Afghanistan two provinces are home to some 45,000 hectares of pistachio forests. Pistachio picking began in late July and will continue for several weeks. Some 12,000 tons of pistachios are expected to be harvested in Badghis, Samangan province 210 tones and 4,000 tones in Herat province.
